The optimum exploitation of heavy and extra heavy oils resources requires specific technologies developed from field trials and research extensively done in North America in Canada, in South America, in the heavy oil fields in the Orinoco Oil Belt in Venezuela, where the cyclic steam injection, steam flood drive, horizontal and multilateral wells have been intensively tested and applied.
